Whetstone Chocolates
The Whetstone family has been making chocolate candy since 1967 using the freshest and highest quality ingredients. The large bean roaster is in place in the factory window and will begin the process of creating artisan chocolate from the African bean to the finished truffles and chocolate confections. Whetstone's will be the first known cacao roaster in the southeast US. The local/seasonal datil peppers used in the datil truffles are grown by Virginia Whetstones husband. Regional pecans are included in many recipes including the traditional southern Pralines. The key lime fudge is a regional specialty among the small batch fudge selections that are made weekly. Handmade caramel and toffee are among the local favorites. Virginia Whetstone educates the public with tours about the history and making of chocolate with the Chocolate Tasting Tour and offers a special introduction to the pleasure of fine artisan chocolates through the Chocolate Indulgence Tour. Parking is available on site.
